I’m bursting with pride to share this… if only my Granny, who would always cut and save bits out of the newspaper, could see me now…
Being interviewed by Ellie House, Editor of Society Magazine, wasn’t just an interview. It was an invitation to reach more women, influence well-being culture and stamp out diet culture for good.
It’s taken me years to articulate what it is I actually “do” and even now it’s challenging because my work is so deep and complex… sooooo you can imagine I was a little apprehensive as to how I’d be portrayed.
Ellie wasn’t intimidating, nor did I feel nervous, which really surprised me.
What amazed me the most is that it was just a simple chat. It took Ellie less than 30 minutes to grasp my life's work, and 10 days later it was published in print!
…impressive, right?! She’s one talented lady.
It’s women like Ellie who give women like me a platform.
But it takes women like me the guts to be courageous and bold enough to tell the story, and the whole story!
That means sharing a bit of ME.
Not just the Doctor, the business or the work but who I really am, sharing my personality and my behind the scenes experience.
That meant sharing my struggle with imposter syndrome, the taboo around leaving my medical career and the impact on my own health & wellbeing.
I’m overwhelmed by everyone’s kind words and comments and the ongoing support I receive as I continue to battle against diet culture and shout about well-being from the rooftops with a tannoy!
& I want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to Ellie, and to you for your ongoing support, likes comments and general cheering!
So… I want to leave you with this.
If you take anything from me, my work, my content, it should be permission.
Permission to take care of your health & wellbeing.
Permission to go against the grain and follow your dreams.
Permission to trust yourself, to trust your gut and know that one day it’ll all start to pay off.
Much love,
Dr Aileen x
